Sandy(Hyosun) Kim (b. South Korea) is interested in the desire to preserve and celebrate shared memories by transforming them into souvenir-type of products. She explores how personal memories can make connections with others using hand-made objects or hand-captured images and replicating them with casting, printing and drawing. By giving them another body to replicate itself over and over again, they become more accessible and could be taken elsewhere outside of the white cube space even when they are completely functionless.

Her interest also lies in the products that are easily discarded once they lose their functionality. Her work focuses on what happens to art works once it leaves the gallery space. Reflecting on the disposability of both functional objects and artworks.

Her work focuses on how an object, as an artwork, can record the traces of touch and act as a medium that connects people with different memories, bringing them closer to each other, requiring intimate interaction with people such as touching and owning them.
